Evening Concert

Iain Farrington & John Reid Piano Duet


Iain Farrington returns to Rickmansworth for his second concert along with his his fellow musician John Reid for a piano duet. The two pianists will perform amongst other pieces Percy Grainger's Country Gardens, Maurice Ravel's La Valse and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Evening Concert

Kammerphilharmonie Europa


The Chamber Philharmonic Europe from Cologne/Germany engages talented young musicians from 18 European nations. Its outstanding high artistic level was confirmed by many concerts and festivals as well as press and critics.
Eight virtuosi will make a magnificent sound as they perform a sparkling programme in Rickmansworth for the first time.


The concert will include concertos by Vivaldi, Hummel and Bach as well as works by Suk, Rachmaninoff and Nielsen.

The concert will be held in the Chorleywood Memorial Hall, Common Rd, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth WD3 5LN on Friday 20th March and will begin at 7.30pm with a Pre-concert talk at 7.00pm. Refreshments including soft hot and cold drinks and wine and beer available before and during the interval. Tickets £16 at the door. Reduced price for members. Free entry for under-25s.

Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year is jointly promoted and run by  the Rotary Club of Rickmansworth, the Three Rivers Music Society and Chorleywood Orchestra.  

Preliminary round.  Like last year again this year, the organisers are hoping to conduct all adjudication on one day, and this will take place before a panel of adjudicators late afternoon & evening of Friday 27 March 2020 at the

Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year(2020)

The Concert

Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year is jointly promoted and run by  the Rotary Club of Rickmansworth, the Three Rivers Music Society and Chorleywood Orchestra.  

8 finalists from the preliminary heats will perform their showcase solo pieces in front of a panel of adjudicators and the Rickmansworth audience on Saturday 23 May 2020 at 4.00 pm at the changed venue -

Jayne Walker Piano Trio

Jayne Walker Piano Trio returns to Rickmansworth for her second concert.
The programme includes Piano Trio in G minor, op.17, by Clara Schumann and two trios by Haydn. The concert was performed at the the Baptist Church, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH on Wednesday 29 January at 1.00pm to a loyal and enthusiastic audience.

Purcell School (5)

Lunchtime Concert

Lunchtime concert by gifted music students
Young musicians from the Purcell School in Bushey – Britain’s oldest specialist music school -- gave a lunchtime concert in the Baptist Church at Rickmansworth on Wednesday, December 11.
As is customary in such concerts, Year 6 pupils from Chorleywood Primary School attended the concert as special guests.

Maggini Quartet (6)

29th November 2019

The Maggini Quartet led by Julian Leaper (violin), Ciaran McCabe (Violin), Martin Outram (Viola) and Michal Kaznowski (Cello) returned to Rickmansworth for the 6th time to play Beethoven, Frank Bridge and Mendelssohn string quartets. The concert was held in the the Baptist Church, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH on Friday 29 November with the Pre-concert talk by Dr. Steven Halls followed by the main concert at 7.30pm.

John Donegan Jazz Sextet

19th November 2019

John Donegan returned with his Jazz Sextet to Rickmansworth including the much acclaimed saxophonist Tomasso Starace. The sextet played John's new compositions from his recently released album called A Kite for Kate dedicated to his youngest daughter Catherine at her wedding in Tuscany in August 2019. The concert was held in the the Baptist Church, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH on Tuesday 19 November at 7.30pm.

Hallses & Moody Quartet

26th October 2019

For the first time ever, David Halls, Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral, his daughter Caroline and his brother Steven came with their long-time friend and professional colleague, Daphne Moody to present a unique programme on Saturday 26 October and included Dvorak’s first piano trio, a baroque cantata for soprano and strings, Elgar’s obbligati to popular songs written for violin and cello.

One of the most remarkable musical compositions of the 19th century was performed in Chorleywood Memorial Hall on Sunday, October 13.

It was a huge success; so much so that overflow seating arrangement had to be provided at the packed to capacity Chorleywood Memorial Hall.

A solo harp recital

Louise Thomson's Harp Recital on Friday 3rd May 2019 at 7.30 pm at the Baptist Church in Rickmansworth was not only the unique first of this type but was a huge success with the full audience thoroughly enjoying the whole programme including in particular, Theme from Tchaikovsky's Opéra Eugène Onégin.

A Jazz evening with

John Donegan Jazz Quartet

3rd April 2019

TRMS welcomed back the John Donegan Jazz Quartet to Rickmansworth with John himself on the piano, highly-regarded Italian Saxophonist, Tommaso Starace, Steve Riddle (Bass) and Greg McCarthy (Drums) on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 at 7.30 pm.

The programme included compositions by John Donegan from his recent compilation CD Album.

The concert took place at the Baptist Church, High Street Rickmansworth with full audience who enjoyed new showcase pieces from John's latest composition - Siamsa suite soon to be released.

Purcell School

lunchtime performance

on 13th February 2019

TRMS with its longstanding partnership with the internationally well-known Purcell School of Music in Bushey organised yet another, 4th lunchtime concert with its students performing solo recitals on trumpet, cello, flute, piano and violin to a packed audience. We had to use the overflow balcony for the first time in 3 years.

The concert was held at the Baptist Church, High Street Rickmansworth,
1.00 pm - 2.00 pm on Wednesday 13th February 2019.

As is customary at these concerts, TRMS invited the Year 6 boys and girls from Holywell Primary School to attend the concert and both the primary school pupils as well as the audience were really impressed with the the skills and talent of the Purcell Scool student musicians.
